About Us
Our Story
Chad grew up practicing karate and later started dance.
I grew up dancing, and I have just begun a new journey with karate.
Though we started in different disciplines, we were both changed by them for the rest of our lives. Now that we are raising our children, we learn this more and more daily.
All four of our children enjoy learning karate. Our three daughters love dancing, and our son likes soccer! We support them however we can as chauffeurs to lessons and practices, by participating in local ballets, by cheering at soccer games, and we really enjoy learning karate together. Our kids also keep busy with school projects and competitions, as well as choir events. It is exhausting, but still such a joy watching our kids grow and learn!
Our Backstory
Chad practiced a couple different forms of martial arts before landing on karate where he earned his Shodan (first degree black belt) during high school. He continued to practice Karate for a while, but as college got busier, he took a break to focus on school.
I started dance lessons when I was around 2 years old. I loved dancing and continued for many years until a knee injury set me back. Eventually, I resumed taking some dance classes and explored different styles of dance. My great joy was getting to teach.
Chad and I met in college, got married shortly after, and had our four amazing children.
Our New Journey
I always wanted to do karate, and learned about it from my father, who is a Shodan, but I never got to try it until now. Chad got the opportunity to dance in college, and after we got married he continued to dance with me.
It is really fun to compare our styles and learn from each other! The lessons that Chad and I both learned in dance and karate have stayed with us. When our kids showed interest in karate, we were able to find a Dojo in the same style Chad had gotten his Shodan in. This has led us to be re-energized and refocused as we learn with our children.
We decided to start this blog to record and share our discoveries, and our ideas for teaching our children and others.
Check out our blog and videos! I hope you enjoy them!
See you soon!
